February Break

DAY 1:

This Monday marked the beginning of February break!!! I want to apologize for the lack of blogging for the past week or so. During the week before break, all the teachers slammed us with tests and quizzes. It was a very stressful week, and school has to be my first priority. Just as a disclaimer, and now that it is break, I have plenty of time to get back in my blog game. So, on the first Saturday of break, I went to lunch and then to a show. I went to The NoHo Star and Blue Man Group!!! It was such a fun time that I will never forget. The show didn’t start till 3:00, so we had plenty of time for lunch. The restaurant was really good. Since it is super close to the theater, it was perfect. I got their classic burger and it was delicious. They are a brunch place on weekends, so you can also get different types of breakfast foods there. The restaurant was really cute. Overall, I had a great time and if you are ever in that area, I would highly recommend it.

After lunch, we had some extra time, so we walked around and saw a lot of cool street artists and performers in Washington Square Park.

Then it was finally time to see the show! They do not allow pictures to be taken during the show, so I did my best to take a few before it started. The show was really cool and it was an overall amazing experience. I highly recommend going with your family or friends because you’re guaranteed a great time. It was so funny and just straight up entertaining.

DAY 2:

Tuesday was another great day. Since Monday was a city day, we changed it up and went on a hike. We wanted a dog friendly hike so my dog could come along too. This winter has been super mild for New York, so it was between the 50’s and 60’s for our hike. The weather was really nice and sunny all day. The only slight downside was that there was snow EVERYWHERE. The snow wasn’t too deep, but after a few minutes, the snow had already soaked through my sneakers. On the drive to the trails, we stopped at a Subway to pick up sandwiches for a picnic during our hike. The hike is famous for having huge rocks, so it was fun to climb and to do some parkour. Another great day and it was really fun to be outside. I will definitely try to get out more often.

DAY 3:

Obviously, winter break is way longer than three days, but I chose to blog about these three days because they were the most interesting. So, day three, I went into the city for the second time this week. I went to China Town for a Dim Sum brunch, and then the MoMath (Museum of Mathematics). I had recently heard of Dim Sum, and I am a total foodie. I love to eat. For those who aren’t familiar with Dim Sum, it is a Chinese tradition where servers come around with a ton of different foods on carts. It is a foodie’s dream and since I love food, I was in heaven. The servers didn’t speak very much English, so you have to guess what the foods are. It is kind of like a guessing game because you never really know what you are about to eat. If you don’t like strange foods or have allergies, I wouldn’t recommend it since you never really know what you are eating. The food just keeps coming, so make sure you go hungry.

After a delicious brunch, I headed over to the Museum. This was my second time visiting, so I knew what to expect. It is a small museum focused around math, but it doesn’t feel or seem like learning. It just seems like fun hands-on games and challenges. It is for a younger crowd, so it is perfect if you have younger siblings, although I myself enjoy it.

Thank you so much for reading my post and I promise I will post again soon. I am very sorry I haven’t posted for a few weeks, but I have some blogs that will go up soon. Please leave your opinions in the comments and have a great weekend.- Suki <3

If you have read my most recent blog then you would know that I just re-did my room. As I said in the past blog, I did not have to buy anything!!! I mostly decorated with DIY’s made using stuff I already had. I made two big things. I made mason jar pen displays, and I made a knit hanging decor to go over my bed.

So first I will start with how to make this really simple hanging wall decor. I have seen this all over the place and I think they are so cute! I decided to make my own. All you need is sticks, yarn of your choice, and scissors.

I found the sticks straight out of my backyard. I looked for a medium length (about 15 inches) and somewhat straight stick. Once I found a few, I chose my favorite and washed it in my kitchen sink to get rid of the dirt and any possible bugs.

I found this yarn from a previous project and thought it would be perfect.

I started with my white yarn first. I cut a piece slightly longer than I wanted it. I figured I could always cut it shorter later. Once you have figured out your desired length, you can cut seven other pieces of the same length, giving you eight strings in total of the white yarn. After you have your strings, it’s time to tie them to the stick. Fold them in half and place them on top of the stick.

Then bring the loop around behind  the stick and pull the ends through. Cut more yarn and repeat this process until you fill up the stick. I am not doing a very good job of explaining so hopefully you can tell from the picture.

I wanted to use all white, but I ran out halfway through the stick. So, I used the gray and the magenta. Obviously, you can use whatever colors you want and there is so much you can do with this. Once you have filled it up, simply take any leftover string and tie a knot on either side so you can hang it one the wall.

This is how long mine was before I cut it. I recommend cutting and shaping it after you have hung it on the wall. My middle strand was white so it was easy to find. If all of your yarn is all the same color, just count until you get to the center and you have the same number of strings on both sides. Then, simply start from the outer string and cut at an angle until you get midway through your middle strand. Then do the same thing on the other side. Don’t worry if you don’t get it on the first try. It took me a couple of tries to get it the way I wanted it.

Overall, I am super happy with how it turned out and I hope you are too.

The next DIY are these two mason jars you could use to display your pens. You don’t just have to display your pens in them, that just happens to be what I did.  All you need is one or more mason jars, some cute or colorful pens or pencils, and some vase fillers or     “pebbles”. These are all things I had at home, but you could also find them for pretty cheap at a local craft store.

The first step is to fill your mason jars with your vase filler or pebbles. I used these clear circular pebbles.

Depending on how big your jar is will affect how many pebbles you need to put in. You can test the height of the pebbles by putting in a pen and see if it reaches to the top or whatever height you want it to reach.

After you have placed all your pebbles in your jars, it is time to add the pens. I decided to go with all pastel pens and keep a theme. I used flair pens and stabilo pens.  Again, you can display whatever you want.

When you are placing the pens in the jar, try not to put them all in the same place. Do your best to spread them out, this is when they look best. This DIY was very self-explanatory and simple.

I know it was only two DIY’s, but these you are the big DIYs  I did for my room. Both of these DIYs are customizable, so there is a lot you can do with both of them. I hope you enjoy this blog and please leave your opinions in the comments below. Thank you so much for reading and I can’t wait to post again soon. -Suki <3

This Saturday I decided I wanted re-do my room!! I celebrate Christmas and it is my favorite holiday, so I go all out making my bedroom festive. I decorated so much this year and I had a ton of fun with it. After Christmas, I took down my decorations and I realized my room was a mess. It didn’t really have a theme and it just did not look good. I decided this weekend I would fix my room. I went with a pastel theme.

I redecorated my desk and dresser, and changed out the pictures in my frames. The room looks so much better now and the best part is I didn’t have to buy anything! I decorated with a mix of DIY’s and stuff I already had.

Halfway through the process I realized I should probably blog!!! So, there are a few areas of my room I didn’t get before pictures:(. I am really sorry for the blog fail. Here is an overall of everything and the ones I only had after pictures of.

I hope you guys like it as much as I do and are inspired to do your own room! Some of this was a DIY so I will be posting a blog on how to do the DIYs very soon. Please comment your opinions below or anything else. I always respond and nice comments make my day. Thank you so much for reading. – Suki <3

Does the name Sugar Factory ring a bell? It is this amazing restaurant in NYC. They have huge “steaming” drinks. They have everything from crepes and French toast, to salads and burgers. Their food is great, but their dessert is even better.

This is a picture of one of their amazing drinks. If you ever go you,  you absolutely have to get the berry watermelon one!!! It is by far the best. Don’t be tempted by others. It isn’t the prettiest drink, but it is the best one, I promise. I went this weekend for my friend’s birthday party. I got an apple pie crepe and fried mac and cheese. Another must if you go are the fried mac and cheese pops, literally the BEST thing EVER!!!!! So, all my friends and I are just hanging out and enjoying dinner when the waiter appears with a HUGE milkshake in her hand. “I have a surprise for you girls. Do any of you know who Dr.Drew is?”. None of us had any idea of who she was talking about. It turns out he’s a celebrity doctor. The server then goes on to explain that whenever a celebrity comes to the Sugar Factory, they give them a free milkshake. Dr.Drew, being a healthy doctor, turned it down.

This is the tweet he posted of himself with the milkshake.

The waiter told him that since he didn’t want it, he could donate it. She then told him it was my friend’s  birthday and he donated it to us!!!

Sry, this is the same picture from above, but I couldn’t find any other good ones. After the amazing lunch, we walked around the Meatpacking Distrct a bit. I saw a Paige sign so I had to take a picture with it…

I just got a pair of Adidas Superstars on Friday, so I wore them for the first time to the Sugar Factory. I was excited, so I took quite a few pictures of them.

I also painted my fingernails to match. I got the idea to do my nails from my “Mr.Kate A Hot Glue Gun Mess ” book. You guys should definitely check it out. It is really cute and I am super obsessed.

The nails are called Dalmatian nails. I hope you like them as much as I do! Make sure to leave a comment on what you would like me to write about next. Thanks for reading and I will do my best to get another blog up soon.- Suki <3
