Over spring break, I went to Barbados and had an amazing time! Every year my family and two other family friends go on a spring break vacation together. We rent a villa and find fun activities to do. Each year we go to a different place. This year we went to Barbados, and it has been the best trip yet. The house was amazing, with a private pool and tennis court. I also wanted to put it out there that I am not writing this post to brag. I do not want to sound like I am bragging, I simply want to share my  memories. I love reading travel posts, and I hope you do too! Over the course of the trip, I got to try so many new things. I went on a catamaran for the first time! It was amazing. It was a beautiful 50 ft. catamaran and it was only two months old. We took the catamaran on a four hour excursion.  We stopped to swim with turtles, and to snorkel at a ship wreck. It was absolutely mind blowing, and I will never forget the experience. Since Rihanna grew up in Barbados, she had been to a lot of the “attractions”. It just so happened that the boat we rented was the same boat that Rihanna had been on twice! On another day, we explored the animal flower cave, which is a beautiful cave where the Pacific and Atlantic oceans meet. There were not that many animals or flowers, but the cave was so pretty.

I also surfed for the first time and I loved it. We went to multiple beaches around the island and all of them were beautiful. The people we met were all so friendly. The food was amazing. I got to try breadfruit and flying fish for the first time, and they were delicious. All the seafood was so fresh. We also devoted half a day to checking out the cute shops. While we were out shopping, I got three cornrows braided into my hair, which is something I have wanted to do for so long.  We also spent a ton of time at the house since it had a pool and tennis courts. If you are wondering where to go for your next vacation I would highly recommend Barbados. It was an amazing experience I will never forget it.a00203c7-8328-4a2d-9670-9dbbbb365306-1

I hope you enjoyed this travel post and I am going to be posting a look book next week so make sure to come back. -Suki <3

Life can be really hard. Life can be really stressful. Life can push you down so far, it seems impossible to get up. Everyone has different problems that they are facing. Everyone has different ways of dealing with problems. I work really hard everyday to be positive. Being positive is really important and it can impact how you look at every situation. I once heard someone say something and it has stuck with me for a long time. She said “Everyday is a new day that you have never seen before and that you will never see again.” This quote helps me remember to try to live everyday to its fullest. Since I am in 7th grade, most of my days are pretty similar and school is my main focus. I try to think about the little things that are important or that I want to remember. Everyday, no matter how boring the day may seem, there is always something different or unique about it. Look for the good in every situation. Trust me, I know, this is way easier said than done. I have bad days too. You just have to try to put a smile on. Remember, it is okay to cry. It is okay to explode and scream into your pillow. Another thing to remember is “If nothing is going right, then go left”. This is basically saying try something new. If you can’t get something, try a different way of doing it. Think outside of the box. Overall, what I am trying to say is just try your hardest to be positive. I hope you enjoyed this post and that it helped encourage you to be more positive.

I just came back from Barbados so I have some really exciting posts coming soon.-Suki <3

Pinterest inspired Cactus D.I.Y’s

As you probably know, cactuses and succulents are a huge trend right now. I absolutely love cactuses and I spend a little too much money buying them. Recently, my grandmother was visiting and since she loves doing crafts, I thought it would be fun to try out different cactus D.I.Y’s. To find my inspiration, I looked on Pinterest. I always find the cutest ideas on Pinterest. (Make sure to check out my Pinterest page, which you can find on the sidebar). I chose the three crafts I thought were the cutest. I did a rock cactus, a cardboard cactus, and a wire and yarn cactus. They were all huge successes, and I am obsessed with how well they turned out.

  • flat(ish) rocks
  • green paint
  • White paint pen
  • terrocata pot
  • vase filler (I used small rocks)

Step 1.

First thing you need to do is paint your flat rocks green. This is actually much harder then I thought it was going to be, and you really only need to paint the top half of the rock.  It took about three coats to properly cover the rock.

Step 2.

After the rocks have dried, simply add prickles by drawing with paint pens. There are so many ways you can do this to make it your own. I used dots and x like shapes.

Step 3.

To help save money, instead of filling the whole vase with rocks, fill the bottom 3/4 up with newspaper and tissues. Then, cover the top with little rocks.

Step 4.

Place your finished rock cactuses into the vases and push them between the little rocks so they stay in place. And now, you’re D O N E, and you have a beautiful cactus decor piece.

  • Plyable wire
  • Yarn (I used green for the cactus and pink, red, and yellow for the flowers)
  • Terrocatta Pot
  • Small vase fillers (you can use the same as what you used for the rock cactus)
  • Scissors
  • Wire cutter

Step 1.

Cut the wire so you have enough to shape it into your desired design.  The length will depend on the shape of your cactus.

Step 2.

Shape the wire into your desired shape. There are so many different things you can do with this so don’t forget to be creative! Depending on your design, you may need to attach separate pieces of wire. This is slightly harder, but don’t let that scare you. Remember it is not going to be perfect, cactus in the wild aren’t perfect either.

Step 3.

After you have molded your wire, it is time to begin to wrap the yarn around the wire. Take your green yarn and tie a double or triple knot at the end. This should prevent the yarn from slipping. Then, wrap your green yarn around the wire in a circular motion. This step took me around thirty minutes, but the time it takes depends on the size of your cactus.

Step 4.

Once you have fully covered the wire in yarn, the cactus may have gotten a little misshapen. Simply bend it back into shape, and then add flowers. This step is totally optional, but, I really like the pop of color the flowers give. To make the flowers, all you have to do is cut about 4-7 pieces of string about the length of your hand. This way you have enough string to easily tie it. Then take your pieces and tie them around the cactus. Then cut the string until it is a length you like.

Step 5.

For this step all you have to do is pot it using the same method as above to save rocks. And you are D O N E!!!

  • cardboard ( I used poster-board because cardboard is very hard to deal with)
  • Green paint
  • Silver Metallic Sharpie
  • scissors or an exacto knife if you do use cardboard
  • pencils
  • hot glue gun

Step 1.

For this step, simply trace your design onto the cardboard/paper. Once you have your design, cut it out and use it to trace and cut out your second piece. You need two in order to give it the cool 3-D affect.

Step 2.

Once you have cut out your pieces, it is time to paint. I painted mine, but if you can find green poster board then you can skip this step. It took three coats of paint to get mine a light green color. Since I did two thin layers, it dried pretty fast.

Step 3.

Now, it is time to add the prickles. This is very similar to what we did for the rock D.I.Y, except this time we used a sliver sharpie. You can use whatever color you want, but I love how cool the metallic silver looks against the green. You can also add the pricks however you want. I did a bunch of vertical lines for mine. Make sure to cover both sides of both your pieces with pricks. Remember, it doesn’t matter if it isn’t perfect.

Step 4.

This part is a little complicated, so try to bear with me. Cut a slit halfway through both of your pieces. Cut halfway from the bottom of one piece and halfway from the top on the other. If I am making this sound super complicated, then just look at the pictures.

Step 5.

Once you have finished cutting, slide your pieces into eachother, and TA-DA, you have your cactus! Except, it is probably not staying together depending on the size. To keep you cactus looking super cute all you have to do is hot-glue gun a small drop of glue on the top of the cactus where the four tips meet. Do the same on the bottom, and your cactus should be looking great!

Step 6.

You know the drill. I potted this cactus the same way I potted the others. Halfway to 3/4 filled with newspaper, and the rest with rocks to give it a nice look and keep it in place. And for the final time, you’re D O N E!

I hope you enjoyed making these, and I am sure they all turned out great! If you do make any of these D.I.Y’s, make sure to comment down below! It makes my day whenever I get a nice comment. Remember, all of these D.I.Y’s are super customizable, so make sure to be creative. I got my inspiration for these cactuses on Pinterest so make sure to check out the link below for even more ideas! Black Tap

Black Tap.

Description: Creative gourmet burgers, modern sides & shakes served in a small, casually hip space

My Description: Amazing resturant, best burgers and best shakes ever. Just. AMAZING! Mic Drop

Do I need to say anything else? I don’t think I have to, but I will. My friend’s birthday was the other day and she celebrated at Black Tap. I have been wanting to go to Black Tap for a while. The only problem is that you can’t make reservations, so you may end up standing in a 2 hour line. That is what happened to me the first time I tried to go. I was not going to stand in a line for two hours, so I left. My friend’s birthday celebration was my chance to finally go to Black Tap. It was a half day of school, so we went straight from school to the city. Once we got there, they told us the wait would be about 20 minutes. It was a miracle! We were seated in less than 15 minutes. Basically, the decor consists of wood. The walls, chairs, tables, and everything in between is wood!  But, the restaurant allows you to write and draw on the wood. You can barely see the wood anymore. It is so dark with names and drawings, but it was really fun to write all over everything. I ordered the California burger with beef, and it was the best burger I have ever had. I am not exaggerating, it was amazing. The cheese was warm and melted when I bit into it. Their sweet potato fries were bomb, but the onion rings are so good too. I just can’t say enough good things. But, the best for last. Their milkshakes!!!! They are so pretty, but they also taste AMAZING. I chose the sour power black cherry shake, and it is hands down the best shake I have ever had. All the candies and decorations on top were also delicious. I thought that since it was pretty, it wouldn’t taste good. I was very wrong. It tasted as wonderful as it looked. As you can tell, I really loved this place. I highly recommend Black Tap, and I would give it 5 stars. I say this every time, and I will say it again, if you are ever in New York City, make sure to check it out because you will love it.

Snow Daze

I love going to bed knowing that when I wake up there will be piles of snow outside my window. Lighting a candle, sipping hot chocolate, looking out my window at the winter wonderland, it doesn’t get much better. Tuesday of last week was a snow day. You probably heard of the Nor’Easter. One hit New York hard earlier this winter, but I guess the snow wasn’t done. It came back stronger than before, covering us in a snow blanket of 12 to 14 inches. I decided to spend the chilly day inside with friends. Only a few friends could actually get to my house, so it was a small group. We ate snacks, drank hot cocoa, and watched a movie. We were fortunate and the schools  announced that they would open on a two hour delay on Wednesday. I set an alarm for eight o’clock so there would be time to get ready. The first thing I did in the morning was practice piano. As I was practicing, I got a text that read, “WE HAVE NO SCHOOL!”. I had been hoping for this, it is like a weekend in the middle of the week. I decided to take advantage of my second snow day. I invited five friends over to take pictures for VSCO and Instagram. I wore a very summery outfit despite the wintery conditions. We had a ton of fun, and I had two very productive and great days.
